Mary's Conquest - help please

I've tried ignoring Mr. Ashcroft (answering generally so as to not give him any ideas) and not becoming close friends with Miss Ashcroft. I can't seem to unlock Mary's Conquest. Should I ignore Miss Ashcroft from the start so I don't talk with Mr.Ashcroft after the Haberdashery? Any tips?

I can't remember if I've done this one yet, but my husband has a bachelor party tonight that he's going to and I'm already planning to play it as soon as my son's in bed and I'm alone. :) I'll try the Ashcroft story line again and see if I can get it.

Thanks! Once I'm done with my current game, I'll give it another try.

All right, I've got it! Here is how it worked for me. After being introduced to Richard Ashcroft, the gossip is swirling around town regarding him being a bastard. Mrs. Norris confronts you about it and then in a separate task (and here is where you can unlock the achievement), Mary does as well. She asks you if the rumors are true. Tell her you have severed all ties to the Ashcroft family. She will ask your blessing in pursuing a relationship with Mr. Ashcroft; tell her it's fine. This will unlock the achievement.

As a note, I'm not sure if this contributed to my storyline, but I was very rude about being introduced to Richard Ashcroft and told Mr. Ashcroft following the dinner where I met Richard that I was not accepting of the situation.

I hope this helps!

P.S. This also unlocks the achievement "justified reservations."

Ok! I've always accepted Richard Ashcroft so I'll change my tactics :) Thanks!
